Chief Justice Does Not Have a Facebook Account

KAMPALA: The attention of the Judiciary management has been drawn to the existence of fake Facebook accounts being operated in the name of the Hon. the Chief Justice of Uganda, Hon. Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe.
The Facebook accounts created by some cyber fraudsters go by different fake identities and the photographs of the Chief Justice, which we suspect were randomly downloaded from the worldwide web/internet.
The pervasive Facebook accounts have all sorts of misleading information targeting the unsuspecting members of the general public who have been patronizing the pages.
The Judiciary wishes to inform the general public that the Hon. the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Bart Katureebe has never been a member of Facebook and does not intend to open up an account on this Social Media platform.
We therefore dissociate the Hon. the Chief Justice from the said accounts and call on the general public not to patronize the pages because the fraudsters are using it to mislead members of the public with false information, both about the Judiciary and the country at large.
In the meantime, the Judiciary Management is taking all the necessary steps with Facebook, Inc. to have the false Facebook accounts closed as soon as possible.
The Judiciary equally views this as an act of criminality and will take necessary steps to bring the perpetrators to book.
